If My Heart Had Wings

The last couple of months have just been a blur of sorts.  Travel from west coast to east coast each week, Pacific ocean to Atlantic ocean, Boston to San Diego.  Doesn't take long to realize one hotel isn't much different from another, one beach isn't much different from another, and one city really isn't much different from another (well I won't count Yuma in that because it really is different!).

In the end it just doesn't matter what hotel you stay in, what ocean you swim in, what beach you warm yourself on, or what city street you walk down.  What does matter are the people you do those very things with.  Without them, none of the other things would even matter.  Our life is preciously, a collection of experiences derived from those who have touched our lives, and whom we ourselves have been able to touch in return.  I know all too well what my life would be, without the gentle yet profound influence & affect so many of my family and friends have had on me.  I am too often constrained to spend hours working separate from those who mean most to me.  However, if this heart had wings, I know where it would spend every hour possible.
Pictures are good  for reminding us of where we have been on this little journey the last couple of months.

Matt

Matt is taking the big step today and joining the ranks of Married people. His Mom and Dad have looked forward to this day for a long time, and now that it's here it's kind of bitter sweet. We wish him and Chanelle the happiest years of their lives. And it was really nice of them to decide to get married in our FAVORITE town....San Diego!
Growing up, Matt was let's say....perhaps our most unique child.  Always happy, Always thinking about having fun, Quick to try ANYTHING, and All to Often testing the patience of his parents.  Rock wondered who this kid was sometimes....and always wondering if Matt was the pay-back his own mother often warned him he would have.  Though in some ways Matt is his own spirit, in others he has unfortunately ended up with too many traits that seem a little to familiar.
We put together this little video to remind us of what a crazy, fun and loving life we will always cherish & remember. Thanks for the fun times Matt! And don't forget to stop by once in a while and say hi.

New Temple Site

Well, for some reason we couldn't think of anything better to do early on a Saturday morning, so.....we decided to go with Michele and her Young Women's group and hike up a Mountiain (ok, Phoenix people call it a mountain, others might call it a hill) across from the new Phoenix Temple site. Michele had a point and purpose for it all for the girls, but essentially it was getting 20 people up a volcanic hill, take a few pics, and get back down without anyone being bitten by snakes, fall and get injured, or any # of other possibilities.

Riley and I went to tag along and help out if needed....but they all made it without our help. While we were up on that hill we noticed the golf course just in the distance and decided that would be fun for the afternoon. So, if hiking wasn't enough....we added golf in as just a little more exercise. Yup, should be loosing a little weight any day now.
It was nice the weather cooperated. It only got up in the low 90's today....no 100's, whew hew!

Can't wait for the next great adventure.

Ian Video

Ian is one of those unique kids that for the most part was just pleasant to be around & never really caused much stress for anyone. I guess after the craziness of his older sisters, his parents deserved one calm child. For the most part Ian is always happy and positive. He was our one child that was actually planned and expected. He is pretty much a guy who plans everything out now and expects to get what he plans for. Though he was engaged the day after he got home from his mission and moved out of our home a week later, we have finally forgiven him. His quick dry wit is seriously missed around our home. We had hoped to share this with him on Fathers day, but since he wouldn't come to Phoenix for Fathers Day....he can watch it on line anytime.

He is a person who loves his wife and baby so very much, and we have enjoyed watching him grow and progress into the kind of man anyone could be proud of.  As we watch his family begin to grow, we just wanted to remind him make sure he remembers to turn around from time to time and take a look at his family and life.  All to often it's easy to get so focused on getting the next project completed, or next class finished, or learning the techniques of the new job, and we forget to stop and embrace the life that surrounds us and if we don't pause to look....it passes us by all to quickly. Don't Blink!
